Our Programs

Comm Labs
CommLabs, a core methodology at Mantle Center, is an innovative approach to bridging the gap between science and society, aiming to reflect community voices in research and implementation. The methodology focuses on addressing concerns directly identified by the community, fostering a deeper connection and understanding between research endeavors and the populations they aim to serve.

Young Researchers
It's never too early to be a catalyst for change in your community. We provide introductory research training to high school students at local recreation centers. The Young Researchers learn through lectures and hands-on applications, practicing the research methods and terminology they study in the classroom with their peers at the centers. Program goals include inspiring new motivations for health and research careers and fostering a broad understanding of the impact participants can have on their communities.

QoL Committees
Building health capacity with communities requires an asset-based approach. Partnering with existing community forums is respectful of existing power structures and allows the work to be informed by the current community context. We seed Quality of Life (QoL) Committees in community councils to help neighborhoods integrate well-being into their agenda. We support the QoL Committees through stipends, advocacy training, resource alignment, and staff support for QoL activities.
