Everyone Deserves the Opportunity to Live a Long, Healthy Life
In Cincinnati, where you live can significantly impact how long and how well you live.
Many neighborhoods face barriers connected to:
-
Community interaction
-
Safety and violence,
-
Safe and available exercise options
-
Access to healthy foods
-
Aging in place
-
Community power
-
and Healthy neighborhoods
These conditions contribute to major disparities in life expectancy across neighborhoods.
Mantle Center believes communities deserve more than crisis response alone. We believe residents deserve the tools, partnerships, and voice needed to shape healthier futures for their neighborhoods.

What Is a Quality of Life Committee?
Quality of Life (QoL) Committees are resident-led groups working within existing community councils to strengthen neighborhood well-being.

QoL Committees leverage the power of community councils to:
-
Identify priorities
-
Organize residents
-
Build partnerships
-
and Advocate for healthier neighborhood conditions

Support the Neighborhood Health Program Policy (NHP)
We're asking the City of Cincinnati to fund hyper-local pilots through Quality of Life Committees to advance neighborhood health. Support the City of Cincinnati community councils through neighborhood support. Additional dollars should be allocated in the city budget to fund healthy program pilots through Quality of Life committees.
The Neighborhood Health Program (NHP) uses 15 percent of Cincinnati state marijuana tax funding to support:
-
$5,000 micro-grants for Community Councils to develop quality of life programs
-
Funding for community health workers to supplement volunteer hours.
-
Technical assistance and partnership matchmaking
-
